New movie’s post-production managed out of Lot Fourteen

Posted April 8, 2024

Monkey Man, out in cinemas in the US and Australia now, has mobilised South Australian tech and talent in the full post-production of the newly released movie.

In 2018, British actor Dev Patel announced his directorial debut, Monkey Man. Patel co-wrote the screenplay, which was inspired by his grandfather’s tales of Hindu deity Hanuman. Patel is the lead actor in the film, where his character, Kid, is out to avenge his mother’s death.

Patel shot to fame in multi-Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire and also starred in Lion and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Monkey Man made its US premiere in Los Angeles last week, winning the Audience Award at 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival.

Lot Fourteen tenant Artisan Post Group provided post-sound and VFX services, with Patel working from Lot Fourteen and the South Australia Film Corporation’s Adelaide Studios to finish the film.

Anton Andreacchio and Mike Darren of Artisan Post Group are credited as Post Producer and Supervising Sound Editor respectively, and who led a team of South Australian sound practitioners and post production practitioners including Carlo Andreacchio and Brett Manson.

“The project was highly complex, with teams working across Canada, US and South Australia,” Anton Andreacchio said.

A labour of love, Monkey Man places Patel as an exciting new filmmaker and one to watch.
